Paying your self-assessment tax return – what do I need to consider?

Paying your self-assessment tax return – what do I need to consider?
The deadline for paying your self-assessment tax bill is 31 January 2025 for the 2023/2024 tax year.
If you have already paid your bill or you did not have any tax due, there is nothing else for you to do.
Your Self-assessment personal tax can be paid at any time up to 31/1/2025.
If you have filed your self-assessment tax return and believe you have tax to pay, you will need to ensure that you know;
- how to pay,
- the amount to pay
- and the reference number to use.
If you haven’t paid, please arrange to schedule the payment due to HMRC to ensure it is paid by 31 January 2025. Payment options are available at https://www.gov.uk/pay-self-assessment-tax-bill
For anyone still needing to complete their self-assessment for the period 6/4/23 to 5/4/24, time is quickly running out, and don’t forget, if the tax return is filed later than midnight on 31 January 2025, you will automatically receive an initial fine of £100.
Please get in touch with us here at Kennedys Accounting if you still need assistance with your self-assessment and we will be pleased to assist.
