New dedicated bereavement service helpline

New dedicated bereavement service helpline

HMRC have announced a new dedicated bereavement helpline to assist bereaved family members or their representatives.

The new helpline allows people to report a death and settle the deceased’s tax affairs by calling the new dedicated bereavement service helpline on‌‌‌ ‌‌0300‌‌‌ ‌‌322‌‌‌ ‌‌9620.

Interactive Voice Response (IVR) messages direct customers who ring this new number to

  • PAYE,
  • Self-Assessment, or
  • Child Benefit depending on the service they need.

This will make it easier at a difficult time to talk to the right people in the right place, first time and be able to talk to someone about several matters during the same call.

Those who call HMRC on the existing numbers will still have their calls routed to bereavement advisers at this time.
