Changes at Companies House continue to impact – are you ready?

Changes at Companies House continue to impact – are you ready?
From 18 November 2025, if you are a company director or a person with significant control (PSC), you must verify your identity, as this is the date the Companies House register will be updated.
There are 2 ways to verify your identity for Companies House.
1. Using the GOV.UK One Login to verify your identity.
GOV.UK One Login will ask you a few questions to work out the best way for you to verify your identity online. The options available may depend on your device, whether you have photo ID, and the type of ID you have.
2. Using an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP).
You can ask an ACSP to verify your identity on your behalf – for example, your accountant
When an agent has agreed to verify your identity, you’ll need to give them documents from an approved list as evidence of your identity.
Until your identity has been verified, you will not be able to file your confirmation statement once the 18 November deadline has passed unless all directors have verified their identity.
As the personal code of every company director in the confirmation statement has to be included when a confirmation statement is filed, your filing will be rejected if you do not include this information.
If someone else files the confirmation statement for your company, all directors must share their personal code with them.
Here at Kennedys Accounting, we have been approved as an ACSP, to assist our clients.
Why this matters for you and your business
Economic crime costs the UK billions each year and creates unfair competition for legitimate businesses. Identity verification protects business owners from being impersonated by criminals and creates a cleaner, more trustworthy business environment.
Any director who continues to act without verifying their identity will be committing an offence. The company is also committing an offence if they fail to rectify this, and Companies House may take enforcement action.
This could include prosecution and financial penalties for the company and its directors.
The company and its directors may also be committing an offence for failing to file a confirmation statement.
