One Login system confirmed for Companies House

Businesses will soon have to use a GOV.UK single sign in system which Companies House says will make it easier and safer for people to access its services.

The system which is due to ‘go live’ from 13 October 2025 will mean that companies will have to go through the One Login system to access their Companies House WebFiling account.

From here the account holder will be prompted to WebFiling account to GOV.UK One Login with access being denied without connecting the two systems.

This comes ahead of the deadline for directors and those with significant control who will have to begin verifying their identities on Companies House. This will be enforced from 18 November 2025 but is already available to do on a voluntary basis.

Companies House has also warned that those signing up will have to ensure their email address is up to date and accessible. If it is not, then details can be changed, with most people opting to do all of these changes via their accountants, as the email address that Companies House hold for them and must be linked.
